Marian Elizabeth Fritz, 104, of Peru, went to be with the Lord at 8:20 AM, Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Blair Ridge Health Campus,
Peru, IN. She was born in St. Joseph, MI. on May 19, 1921, the daughter of Dr. John and Margaret Feiner McDermott. Marian married Richard Fritz in St. Joseph, MI, on December 28, 1946 and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1981. Marian graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1939 and was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru. She was also a member of the Alter Rosary Society, the Secular Franciscans, and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a former YMCA Charter Member and a volunteer with the Miami County Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. Marian volunteered over 4000 hours as a Pink Lady at Dukes Memorial Hospital. Marian's most treasured role was serving her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for the warmth of her smile and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. She was very proud to have the opportunity to travel to 2 other countries and across the United States to visit her children. In her later years, she enjoyed bird watching, especially the hummingbirds at her feeder. Surviving are her children John (Debbra) Fritz of Peru, Sharon Hartz of Bowling Green, KY, Paul (Susan) Fritz, of Georgetown, MA, Marilyn Fritz of Peru, Patricia (Richard) Gibson of New Albany, OH, Mary Jo (Richard) Glassburn of Peru, and Col. James (Kim) Fritz, USMC, Ret. of Littleton, NC; grandchildren Lecia (Jacob) Spence, Leslie (Cory) Beauchamp, Nathan (Jennifer) Hartz, Ryan (Kelly) Hartz, Tim Hartz, Aaron Hartz, Patrick (Shari) Gibson, Elizabeth (Jamie) Ingles, Evan Glassburn, Austin Glassburn, Natalie Fritz, Mia Fritz, Capt. James R. Fritz, USMC, and 2ndLt. Peter Fritz, USMC; 14 great-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, a son-in-law Hanley Hartz, and siblings Rita Raab, Russell McDermott, Benard McDermott, Vincent McDermott, and Robert McDermott. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St. Peru, with Father Paul Cochran officiating. Entombment will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Cass County, IN. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM, Friday, July 11, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St. Peru. There will be a prayer service on Friday at 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Charles Catholic Church or Miami County Helping Hands. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Blair Ridge Health Campus for the wonderful care they extended to their mother and to the St. Charles Parishioners for all their prayers and support.
