Marian Long Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel of Capitol Hill on Feb. 20, 2025.
Marian Eugenia "Genie" Long, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on January 19, 1943, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She passed peacefully on February 17, 2025, in Oklahoma City, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Genie was a vibrant spirit who embraced life with a generosity that touched everyone around her. A devoted medical assistant for many years, she carried her dedication to care into every aspect of her life. Her warmth and humor were a source of comfort and laughter to her family and friends. Genie took great pride in cultivating plants for entry into the state fair, and she had a passion for sand art and collecting miniatures. She enjoyed watching "Little House on the Prairie," "Jeopardy!" and her favorite movie, "The Sound of Music." She loved her dogs, which always gave her great comfort and joy. Additionally, Genie cherished moments spent cheering for the Oklahoma City Thunder, finding fun in every game. Holidays were a time for Genie to gather with her family, celebrating traditions and creating lasting memories. She particularly enjoyed the Christmas season and decorating the tree was always a highlight. She treasured birthday lunches with her sisters, moments that held deep meaning in her heart.
Marian is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gladys Couch; her husband, James K. "Cotton" Long; and her sister, Elaine Stout. She is survived by her devoted children, James and wife Sharon Fullingim; Amy and husband Jerry Cusack, all of Oklahoma City; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Mandy and husband Tyler Porter; Jamie Cusack, and Katie Cusack, along with her great-grandchildren, Easton, Reed, Rhett, and Emma Porter. Genie also leaves behind her loving siblings, Virginia and husband Bill Hodges of Edmond; Kenneth Couch of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Donnie and wife Kay Couch of Tulsa; and Marge and husband Jeff Webb of Oklahoma City and many nieces and nephews. Genie will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May her legacy of laughter, love, and compassion continue to inspire us all.
