Funeral services for Marian Selene, 90, of Jefferson, will be held at 11:00am Friday, October 15, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson. Interment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
Marian Eileen Selene was born May 30, 1931 in Houston, Minnesota to Ray Van Gundy and Lillian (Last) Van Gundy. Marian attended school in Cooper, Iowa and graduated from Dana High School.
On June 17, 1951, Marian was united in marriage to James Lorence Selene at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
Marian was an active, longtime member of First Presbyterian, serving as church secretary and treasurer. She was a member of the Greene County Hospital Auxiliary. Marian worked in the secretarial field during her working years.
Marian passed away at age 90 on October 11, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wilfred Wayne Van Gundy; and her husband, James Selene.
She is survived by her son, David ( Becky) Selene of Norwalk, Iowa; granddaughter, Anne (Justin) Tucker, great-grandson, Jackson and great-granddaughter, Hannah Tucker of Lakeville, Minnesota; nieces, nephew and cousins. She was surrounded by many friends in the Jefferson community.
Memorials are suggested to Greene County Medical Center Foundation.
