Marian Stubbs

Marian Echols Stubbs, age 96, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Perry, Georgia. Private Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Perry Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice, 5400 Riverside Drive, Suite 200, Macon, GA 31210.
Born on March 15, 1929, in Quitman, Georgia, Marian was the daughter of the late John Arthur Echols, Sr. and the late Mamie Ruth Wise Echols. She graduated from Brooks County High School and went on to attend Georgia State College for Women. Her passion for learning and teaching led her to earn a Bachelor's Degree in education from the University of Georgia. Marian married the love of her life, Jimmy Stubbs, with whom she shared seventy-three years of marriage. Together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter. Remarkably, Marian gave birth to four sons, including twins, in just three years, a testament to her strength and resilience as a mother. She was always a caregiver at heart, tending not only to her children but also to other family members throughout her life. Marian found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially gathering around the table with loved ones for one of her delicious, signature home-cooked meals. Her kitchen was always open and welcoming. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with friends after her children were grown. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marian lived a life marked by unwavering dedication to her family and a deep sense of care for those around her. She will be dearly missed.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and devoted husband, Jimmy Stubbs; her brother John Arthur Echols, Jr.; and a son, Benjamin Bronson "Bronnie" Stubbs.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Marian are her sons, Steve Stubbs (Mary) of Fernandina, FL, Allen Stubbs (Robert Hargrove) of Elko, GA, and Wayne Stubbs (Luelle) of Hayesville, NC; five grandchildren, Bronson Stubbs (Lisa), Tyler Stubbs, Will Stubbs, Ben Stubbs (Jen), and James Stubbs (Katie); and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the many caregivers at Hands of Hope, Heartland Hospice, and Church Home LifeSpring memory care unit and nursing home for their kindness and gentle care of Mrs. Stubbs while she was with them.
