MANSFIELD – Mariana Fatima Morgan, 72, of Mansfield, formerly of Austin, TX, Somerset, and Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mariana was the daughter of the late Antonio DaCosta and Maria (Duque) DaCosta. Born on June 13, 1952, in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she immigrated to Canada with her family before settling in Attleboro, MA, where she grew up alongside her brothers and sister. Mariana was proud to become a U.S. citizen after immigrating, embracing her new home while remaining deeply connected to her Portuguese heritage and traditions.
Mariana enjoyed a fulfilling career at the Balfour Company in Attleboro for over 20 years and continued her journey with the company in Austin, TX. Later, driven by her passion for helping others, Mariana transitioned to volunteer work with the Victims Crisis Unit and eventually became an inventory specialist for the Austin Police Department, from which she retired in 2023.
Creativity was a significant part of Mariana's life. She expressed herself through art and photography, found joy in music, and had a love for gardening, cooking, and traveling. Above all, her greatest happiness came from her family, whom she cherished deeply.
Mariana was the beloved wife of the late Richard B. Morgan and a devoted mother to her son Patrick Morgan of Austin, TX; her daughter Lydia (Morgan) Wells and her husband Nathan Wells of Mansfield, MA; and her son Gilbert Morgan of Austin, TX. She was the dear sister of Gilbert DaCosta and his wife Celeste of Belchertown, MA; Lidia Vidinha of Pawtucket, RI; Victor DaCosta and his wife Denise of Attleboro, MA; and the late Francisco DaCosta of São Miguel, Azores. Mariana was a loving grandmother to Isaiah Morgan and Christopher Wells and was adored by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM in the funeral home.
