As a teacher, I found Sr Gertrude compassionate and kind to us and to the children. She developed relationships with families. I know how she paid motherly attention to a child who did not have that care, arriving at school too early and disheveled. Sister would invite her to her office, help clean her face and brush her hair. They would talk. She was a blessing to that child-and to many more.
My condolences to her family and her community.

Sr. Gertrude was my teacher at sacred heart high school. I loved her teaching. She was dedicated, strict, could be funny at times. Condolences to the Holy union sisters and her family as well. In my thoughts and prayers.
