Mariann Laverne Spisak of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025.
She lived 88 years as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born on August 19, 1936, in Whiting, Indiana, Mariann lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love.
A devout Catholic, Mariann lived her faith each day with quiet conviction and joy. She had a deep and abiding devotion to the Blessed Mother and found peace and strength in the rosary. As a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she lovingly helped craft rosaries by hand, which were given to people in need of comfort.
Cooking was one way Mariann showed love. A devoted wife and proud mother of eleven children, Mariann found great joy in cooking for her family and teaching her children to cook not just with their hands, but with their hearts. She also loved to travel and try new things.
Mariann is preceded in death by her loving husband David Ronald Spisak, daughter Laura Watson, and her parents Frank and Evelyn Hamernik. Her surviving children include David Spisak, Kathy Anderson, Linda Gunnels, Mary Connelly, Ken Spisak, Tricia Kelly, Karen Forsythe, Elizabeth Hamilton, Sharon Cruse, and Susan Spisak. She also enjoyed fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many other friends, relatives, and loved ones.
Though she never sought recognition, Mariann was a woman who gave everything to her family and asked for little in return. Her legacy will live on in every act of love passed down through generations. We will miss her always.
The family will receive friends 10-11 am Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Oak Ridge. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am with Father Neil Blatchford officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 pm at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left at weatherfordmortuary.com.
