Marianne Miller Aitken, 84, of Asheboro, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro with Rev. Brian K. Rummage officiating.

Born to the late Robert and Katherine Miller in Mansfield, Ohio, Marianne moved to North Carolina in her early teens and graduated from Myers Park High School in Charlotte before earning her degree from Appalachian State University. She dedicated much of her life to education and communication - first as a teacher, and later as a co-writer of newsletters for the Steadman Corporation and the North Carolina Zoological Society.

Marianne had a gift for storytelling, a love of books and mysteries and a joy for games of all kinds. She cherished time spent with friends and family, especially hosting dinner parties and entertaining, sharing laughter, conversation, stories, and lively competitions around the game table.

In addition to her parents, Marianne is preceded in death by her husband, George Douglas Aitken; and sister, Susan Miller Gotheridge.

Survivors include, daughter, Jennifer Aitken, of Asheboro; son, Andrew Todd Aitken (Colleen) of Kernersville; grandchildren, Andrew "Drew" Thomas Aitken, and Emma Grace Aitken.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home.
