Marianne Elizabeth Sterner, 87, of West Lawn, passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia, Marianne was the daughter of the late John C. Howey and Annalee (Barr) Howey. She was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1956.

Marianne was a devoted mother and a hardworking woman throughout her life. She was employed for a period at CNA Insurance and York Steakhouse, and later spent many years as a valued saleswoman at Boscov's North location, where she eventually retired.

She loved animals and was especially devoted to the feline companions she had throughout her life, finding great comfort and joy in their presence. She also appreciated music and was particularly fond of 1970s country music and the songs of Elvis Presley.

She is survived by her four children: daughter Debra Sterner of Tempe, AZ; and sons Michael Sterner of Chandler, AZ, Scott Sterner and John Sterner, both of West Lawn; as well as her beloved feline companion, Socks. She was predeceased by her brother, Lee Glenn Howey.

Marianne will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her strong work ethic, her love of animals, especially her beloved cats, and her long ties to the Muhlenberg Township community.

Services for Marianne will be private, per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to an animal rescue or shelter of your choosing.
