Maribel Rivera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Deco Familia Rosecrans Funeral Home - Paramount on Oct. 10, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Maribel Bonnae Rivera, 44 years of age, of Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 14, 2025.
Maribel was born on December 24, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. A few years later, after the family settled in Los Angeles, she attended several schools locally where she always enjoyed learning and making friends. She lived with her family for 25 years. In 2005 she moved out of state. Maribel spent 10 wonderful years living in a group home in Wisconsin, where she worked as an assembler, work she took great pride and joy in. She was known for her caring heart and her instinct to look out for others. Wherever she went, she would often say, "I adopted him or her," and she truly meant it, always ready to offer love, kindness, and compassion to those around her.
Maribel loved spending time building intricate puzzles, often with over a thousand pieces, and she was an avid bowler. One of her proudest accomplishments was winning a State National medal in The Special Olympics. She was also very proud of being the star of the documentary "Maribel". She loved sharing with everyone she met, especially doctors, nurses and staff so that they would learn more about Prader-Willi Syndrome. She used to proudly say "Watch my movie", with a huge glow and smile. She had a deep love for animals especially dogs and cats, and would happily care for any creature that came her way. Her lifelong dream was to become a veterinarian.
Maribel is survived by her parents Francisco and Mercedes, her sisters Mercedes and Linda, and her brother Gibran. She is also lovingly remembered by Chris, her devoted boyfriend of 20 years, with whom she dreamed of one day marrying and starting a family. Maribel's warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Maribel will remember her for the love she so freely gave. Her presence was a gift, and her legacy will be the countless lives she enriched simply by being herself. Maribel's spirit will continue to inspire love and kindness in the hearts of those she touched.
As the sun sets on a life lived with purpose and joy, we say goodbye to Maribel Bonnae Rivera. Though she has left this earthly realm, her light remains, a guiding star in the lives of all she loved. Her memory will be cherished, and her example of love, kindness, and generosity will live on forever.
In honor of Maribel's life, a gathering will be held to celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Details of the service will be shared, allowing friends, colleagues, and family to come together in remembrance of a life truly well-lived. Maribel Bonnae Rivera will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
