Marie Augustine

Marie (Gianuzzi) Augustine, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2025. Marie is survived by her sons Len Augustine and his wife Pam, Gary Caruso and his wife Jill, Keith Augustine and his wife Amy, her daughter Susan Baer and her husband Everett Youngberg, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, who will remember her laughter, her kindness, and the unwavering love she showed every one of them.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, she grew up with a warm spirit and an enthusiasm for life. She attended GAR High School, graduating in 1955. She was known for her friendly smile and easy laugh, traits she carried with her for the rest of her life.

Marie's life was blessed with family. After welcoming two children in her first marriage, her life took a beautiful turn when she met the love of her life, Len Augustine. Together, they built a family filled with joy, respect, and tenderness, adding two more children to their home. Marie and Len were adorable together, deeply in love, and inseparable.

They often worked together, played cards with friends, and shared a passion for basketball, cheering through every season side by side. First came years rooting for Michael Jordan, then LeBron James, following him from team to team. For the last eight seasons, Marie proudly called herself a Lakers fan, keeping the tradition she and Len began years earlier.

When Len passed away in 2015, Marie demonstrated remarkable strength, courage, and resilience. Despite the profound loss, she chose to begin a new chapter in her life, moving to New York. There she found needed support from her son Len, his wife Pam, and his family. Their kindness made a fulfilling life possible for Marie. In her new apartment, she built new friendships, spent time with family, and continued to find reasons to smile. She enjoyed visiting the senior center where she loved playing bingo, and she was incredible at Scrabble. But it was just being with friends that she treasured most. No matter where she lived or what she faced, Marie brought warmth into every room.

Marie leaves behind a legacy of affection, loyalty, and joy. Her light hasn't faded. It lives on in the hearts of those fortunate to have known her.
