Marie K. Bacon, 89, of Sharon, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, February 20, 2026, in her home.
Mrs. Bacon was born August 28, 1936, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Michael and Dorthea (Kapurik) Kurelko, and attended Sharon High School.
In addition to being an adoring homemaker, Marie later worked as a cook at the former JCPenney Restaurant in Hermitage.
Marie was a longtime member of the former Church of the Sacred Heart, and more recently, St. Stanislaus Church, both in Sharon.
A wonderful cook, she also enjoyed playing bingo and working Sudoku puzzles. In her downtime, she loved to relax and crochet.
Her late husband of 62 years, John J. Bacon, whom she married on May 23, 1953, in Sharon, preceded her in death on December 15, 2015.
Marie is survived by seven children, John Bacon, of Bakersfield, CA, Cheryl (Gary) Gonzales, of Brookfield, OH, Linda (Edward) Palestro, of Hubbard, OH, David Bacon, of Sharon, Bonnie (Rick) Dickson, of Brookfield, OH, Sharon Harakal, of Sharon, and Thomas Bacon, of Sharon, who cared for her at home.
She is also leaves to cherish her memory 12 grandchildren, Robert “R.J.” Gomez, Tim (Ang) Yesko, Anthony, Eddie (Ashley), Frank, and James (Taylor) Palestro, Alyssa (Brice) Long, Kayla (Tyler Luchey) Bacon, Todd (Deanna Airgood) Bacon, Gabrielle (Jordan) Harbison, Derrick Dickson, and Jarod Harakal; and 15 great-grandchildren, Madison Yesko, Lexi Yesko, Abree and Luca Palestro, Max and Leo Palestro, Dylan Hershberger and Logan Long, and Lennon and Avie Harbison, Emmalyn Jarvi, Auna and Laney Husband, Lyla Luchey and David Aaron Bacon.
Marie is also survived by a brother, Stephen (Ruth) Kurelko, of West Middlesex; a sister, Dorothy (William) Kauffman, of Sharon; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bacon, of Hermitage.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Bacon; four grandchildren, Rachele Bacon, Trista Harakal, Brian Yesko, and Aaron Bacon; three brothers, Michael, John Paul, and Edward Kurelko; and a sister, Anna Palik.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be directed to the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 2599 Broadway Rd, Hermitage, PA 16148.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday (2-25-26)in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuenralHomeandCrematory.com.
Mass of Christian burial will be immediately following at 11 a.m. in the church.
Interment: St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hermitage.
