Marie E. Cahill, 84, of Selbyville Delaware, peacefully passed away to be with Our Lord and Savior on September 24, 2025 at Excelcare at Lewes.
She was born in Albany, N.Y., Daughter of the late Mary Jane and Anthony Cambareri and grand-daughter of the late Eva and John B. Watso, Chief of the Abenaki Tribe.
Marie was a graduate of Albany High School, Class of 1959, where she served as a Keyette, was a member of the Choir, Theta Sigma Literary Society, Garnet and Gray and a Star High member.
She was married in 1960 to her high school sweetheart and loving husband James W. Cahill and was a devoted Wife, Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Together, Marie and Jim raised four children in Albany, N.Y., where she was a devoted mother of four while working as a bookkeeper and secretary for J.W. Cahill Electric and enjoying summers at their camp at Great Sacandaga Lake. Marie was a licensed Broker and a Realtor in N.Y., MD and "The Small Wonder", Delaware, where she called home since 1984.
Marie enjoyed playing tennis, the piano, swimming and boating. Together, she and Jim became certified SCUBA divers in 1976. She also raced their 442 in the Powder Puff Derby and was, along with Jim, a member of the National Drag Racing Association, certified on NRHA tracks, where she often finished in first place while racing their powder blue 442.
Marie enjoyed many friendships she formed over the years through work and activities. Jim and family wishes to thank these friends for their help and support and wishes to thank the loving staff of Excelcare at Lewes with special thanks to her Nurse, Mary, her primary Aide Angie and activity providers Dana and Kathleen who all had formed a special bond with Marie, provided quality care with understanding and TLC both above and beyond family expectations.
In addition to her parents, Marie is predeceased by her baby Laura and her Sister and brother-in-law Carmen and Jerry Pruett. Her family is joyful in the knowledge that she has joined them within the presence of Our Lord. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, James W. Cahill, her four children, Colleen (Simon), Kathleen (Richard), James Jr. (Cynthia) and Valerie (Owen), her ten grandchildren. Melissa, Amanda, Owen, Ryan, Patrick, Talia, Robert, Truxton, Kristen and Jessica and nine great grandchildren.
Arrangements entrusted with Melson's Funeral Services with additional memorial arrangements to be later announced.
