Marie DeVenio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Toms River on Jun. 10, 2025.
Marie B. DeVenio, a cherished matriarch, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2025, in Berkeley Heights, NJ, at the age of 97.
Born on January 12, 1928, in Hackensack, NJ, Marie grew up in Carlstadt, NJ and thereafter established her own family there alongside her loving husband, Anthony DeVenio, who predeceased her in 2009. Together, Marie and Anthony created a warm and welcoming household, and later enjoyed the tranquil life of retirement in Shelter Cove, Toms River. After the loss of Anthony, Marie continued to uphold the family's bond by moving to East Rutherford in 2012, where she resided with family members.
Marie worked as a loan officer at Boiling Springs Bank, a position she held until retiring, but Marie's favorite job was being a wife, mother and grandmother, titles she embodied fully and beautifully.
Her home was a hub of joy and warmth, especially during the holidays. Marie's talent as a cook and baker was undeniable; she was renowned for her scrumptious sauerbraten and Christmas Stollen. The grandeur of her carefully arranged Christmas village and the enchantment of the train set were tradition as much as a testament to her attention to detail. The love and care she poured into hosting Christmas for her family were the touchstones of many cherished memories.
Marie was an avid knitter, she loved relaxing in the pool, and enjoyed the excitement of visiting Atlantic City. She left a legacy of love, embodying the heart of the family matriarch, always ensuring that her family and home were well looked after.
Family was the cornerstone of Marie's life. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sikora, and her husband John; her son, Robert DeVenio, and his wife Karen; her adoring grandchildren, Jaclyn Perez, Craig Sikora, Scott Sikora, Danielle Vigueria, and Ryan DeVenio; her treasured great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Gavin, Olivia, Anthony, Riley, Logan, Nora, Grace, Dominick, and Simone; and her brothers, Charlie and Ted Walther.
Marie B. DeVenio's life was a tapestry woven with love, hard work, and cherished traditions, and she will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A crypt side service will be held for Marie on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 11:30am at St Joseph's Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
