Marie Donahue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perinchief Chapels - Mount Holly on Sep. 5, 2025.
Marie E. Donahue of Marlton, formerly of Mount Holly, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 81 years old. Born in Camden, the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (nee Fanelle) DiSilvestro, Marie was a graduate of Wildwood Catholic High School. Her first job was as a clerk at the municipal building in Wildwood where she met her husband, Lawrence. They were married for 57 years, before he passed away on October 1, 2022. Marie and Larry lived in Mount Holly for many years, and spent their summers working in Wildwood, she as a hotel manager and Larry as a police officer. They retired to West Palm Beach, Florida and became snowbirds (Florida to Wildwood), before eventually returning and living in Cherry Hill. Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren. Marie was an amazing cook and could make any room look beautiful. Her decorating skills were admired by all. She served on various PTOs and other boards to support her children and her husband. She loved to support Larry and was so proud of him as the longtime principal of the Folwell School in Mount Holly. After retirement, she was a shuffleboard champion, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and loved watching Wheel of Fortune. Watching her children and grandchildren grow brought her the greatest joy. She is survived by son Bernard N. Donahue and his wife Patricia (Kraras); daughter Denise M. Waetzman and her husband Michael; daughter-in-law Jodi Donahue (Robinette); 8 grandchildren: Bernard Jr. and his wife Emily, Joseph and wife Shelby, Stavanna, Anthony and his wife Meli, Larry IV, Jenna, Vincent and Dominic; 2 great-grandchildren: Grayson Blattenberger and Maeve Donahue. Marie was also predeceased by her son, Lawrence B. Donahue, III, who passed away on September 23, 2022. She is also survived by her siblings Harry (Colleen), Barbara (late Tony) Flacco, and Rocky (late Joy). She was predeceased by her brother Ronnie. Marie also had many loving and cousins and friends and will be missed by so many that she touched with her kindness. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on Friday Sept. 12th at 11:00am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Relatives and Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 10am – 11am at the Church. Marie loved flowers but if you prefer, contributions in her memory may be made to The Prostate Cancer Foundation at https://www.pcf.org/donate/ in honor of her son, Larry.

My husband and I didn´t know Marie for very long. We met her and Larry when we purchased their unit at her beloved Vista Mar. We spoke over the phone and she visited us once. We had such a lovely afternoon. She was bright and so friendly, she made us feel like we knew her for years. Rest in peace Marie

I will miss Marie terribly. I loved being with her and I loved the way she charmingly decorated her residences. She was a pure joy to be around. Rest in peace, my dear cousin.
