Marie Durante

COHOES Mary Marie Durante passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at her home with her loving daughter by her side just one day after her 85th birthday.
Born in Florida, New York she was the daughter of the late Arthur Conkling and Mary Gillen Boyce. At a young age, she and her family moved to Delaware where she was raised and graduated from Mt. Freedom High School.
Marie was the wife of the late Pasquale "Pat" Durante. Together they ran their business, The Carpet Mart in Middletown, NY for many years. They also were both softball umpires, belonged to the New York State Softball Umpires Association and even traveled to Israel to officiate games.
She moved to Arizona in 1989 where she worked as an administrator for the Litchfield School District until her retirement. She then moved back to New York to be closer to her family who she loved so dearly. Ever a proud grandmother and great grandmother, she was always happiest when surrounded by family.
Marie is survived by her beloved daughter, Sherry Scannapieco; by her sister, Stella Lemme and her husband Tony; by her adored grandchildren, Ralph, Krystina, Alfonso and Nicholas; and by her cherished great grandchildren, Gauge, R.J., Summer, Alfonso, Brayden, Lincoln, Amelia and Luca. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Boyce; her brother-in-law, Jack Estevez, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Susie-Q.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Boyce and her sister, Gertrude Estevez.
Marie will be laid to rest in Walkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Rd., Middletown, NY 10940 on September 13th 2025 at 10:00 am.
