J. Marie Engwall, 85, of Willmar, died Monday, November 18th at St. Cloud Hospital. Her memorial service will be 11:00 am, Monday, November 25th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be at Mamrelund Cemetery in rural Pennock. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org
Joan Marie Engwall was born to Alvin and Johanna (Plowman) Akerson on October 14, 1939, in Willmar. She was baptized and later confirmed at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock. Marie attended District 14 South for elementary and graduated from Willmar High School in 1957. Marie was united in marriage to Ardell Engwall on April 7, 1962, at Mamrelund Lutheran. They made their home in Willmar where Marie raised their family and later they became foster parents to several children. Marie worked during the summers at Dairy Queen, where she enjoyed working for 28 years. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling and entertaining family and friends.
Marie is survived by her husband, Ardell; children: Kevin Engwall of Willmar and Michelle (John) Kaymen of Mesa, AZ; foster-son: Peter Carnes of Slaughterville, OK; grandchildren: Tyler Engwall, Mariah (Kyle) Pundsack and Jasmine (Micah) Almond; great-grandchildren: Kaizyn and Koaven Almond and William and Logan Pundsack; sister, Carol Cata of Mesa, AZ; and sister-in-law, Vicky Akerson and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Manfred Akerson.
