Marie A. Geiken, born on November 14, 1944, in Eldora, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Grundy Center, Iowa. Marie was a cherished member of her community and a devoted family matriarch who dedicated her life to her loved ones and the family farm outside of Wellsburg.
As a farmers' wife, Marie played an integral role in raising her family amidst the scenic setting of rural Iowa. Throughout her life, she was known for her unwavering support and kindness, always there to attend to the needs of her family. Her nurturing spirit and warm demeanor created a loving home for her husband, Richard Geiken, and their children and grandchildren.
Marie was not only a lifelong member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she attended, but also a person of deep faith and joy. Her personality was marked by happiness, enriching the lives of those around her. She took pleasure in gardening, finding solace and joy in tending to her flowers, which reflected her nurturing nature. Her creative talents shone brightly in her passion for sewing, quilting, and cross-stitching, with many quilts lovingly crafted to be gifted to family members, embodying her generosity and care.
She graduated from Hubbard High School, where her love for community and connection began to blossom. Marie treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life, and her steadfastness and warmth will be profoundly missed.
Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Geiken; her son, Marv (Sue) Geiken; her daughter, Donna Cretin; her grandchildren, Christine Geiken, Kara Ewalt, Shelby (AJ) Richards, and Justin Cretin; her step-grandchildren, Kelli and Tyler McWilliams; and her four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Larry) Opperman, who will cherish the memories they created together.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday December 4, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, both held at the First Christian Reformed Church located at 12419 185th St, Wellsburg, IA 50680.
Marie A. Geiken leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering support for her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
