Wilma Marie Ross, 93 of Wellsburg, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Creekside Living in Grundy Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the church cemetery following the funeral service. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Wellsburg Fire Department.

Wilma was born on November 30, 1931, in rural Grundy County, Iowa, to her parents George and Hannah (Feenders) Ringena. She was raised in Wellsburg and graduated from Wellsburg High School in the class of 1950. She was united in marriage to Bob Ross on September 26, 1951. Together the couple welcomed four children into their family. Wilma was a devoted mother to her children, and a hard worker all her life. Once her children were grown, she began working as a cook and waitress at the Pub Supper Club. She then became the manager of the Cooler restaurant in Wellsburg and finally a cook at the Green Door restaurant in Steamboat Rock.

Wilma was a Cub Scout Leader, an avid gardener, and enjoyed her card club with local ladies called the MNO Club (Mothers Night Out). Wilma was famous for her potato salad. She loved to cook and also ran her own catering business so many people got to enjoy her talent in the kitchen. Wilma was an active member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and served the church as a member of the Ladies Guild and as a Sunday School teacher for 15 years. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Wilma’s memory are her children Lynne Ross (Anthony Collins), Brad (Tammi) Ross, Sara (Glenn) Winkowitsch and Eric Ross; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Thelma Ringena; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Ross; her bothers George and John Ringena and sister Kate Nederhoff.
