It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Marie Jones, 86, our beloved matriarch who passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 11, 1938, Marie remained in her cherished hometown for 86 years. We like to think she now has the best seat in the house for every 76ers game! Marie embodied her Italian roots, a cornerstone of her identity, which she shared with all who knew her. A proud daughter of an Italian Immigrant, Marie honored her mother (Mary Lauletta) for her many sacrifices. Marie was a loving wife to George Jones and a devoted mother to three children.
Marie’s greatest joy came from family gatherings, full of laughter, dancing, and an abundance of love. Marie naturally captured any room with charisma and candor. Her authenticity was unmatched, and she spoke her mind without hesitation. Her legacy lives on through her stories, which always ended with the phrase “…and that’s that”.
Marie is survived by her children Dean Jones (Diane), Linda Angotta (Robert), and Gina Jones, and her seven grandchildren, Paige, Deanna, Casey, Erin, Sean, Vincent, and Sam. She leaves behind nine great-grandchildren: Hope, Dean, Blaise, Oliver, Roman, Mooney, Nina, Vera, and Aria.
A viewing will be held on November 25 at 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM at St. Barnabas RC Church, 6300 Buist Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19142, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul in Springfield, PA. And that’s that!
