Published by Legacy on Oct. 27, 2025.
Marie Joseph was born on April 11, 1933, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She was the first of five children born to the late Marcel Joseph and Josephine Joseph.
Marie is survived by her two sons, Robert Jacquet and Elvens Lezin; three brothers, Pierre Paul Joseph, Jamson Joseph, and the late Will Joseph; and one sister, Monique Joseph.
She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Darline, Kenny, Dominique Jacquet, Stevens, Nafjah, and Summahjah Lezin. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Marai Lezin, Ariyah, and Sacar Jean Simon.
Marie is also survived by her sisters-in-law Jacqueline Cesarien Joseph, Josette Dorce Joseph, and Roselene Movile Joseph. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, including Margarette, Josepha, Denise Exinord, Mirlange, the late Gardy, Leah, Yanick, Charleston, Jackson, Fabiola, Murielle, Paula, and Jean Max.
In addition, she is predeceased by loved ones Larry, Santa, and Sadyah, and leaves behind many more cherished family members including Tanisha, Samantha, Junior, Zabi, Bridney, Daniel, Elisha, Micah, Kiana, Josiah, Robert, William, Myah, Taven, Mason, Donovan, Jennika, Macalynna, Jaylynna, Olsen, Marlen, Sabrina, Darly, Adrienn, Liyana, Jadai, Jazmine, Jhakel, Kelsey, and Ala.
In June 1981, Marie moved from Haiti to the United States to join her mother and brothers. She wasted no time settling in and began working in a candy factory, where she remained for a few years. In 1983, she decided to leave the company and joined the housekeeping team at the Marriott Hotel in Newton, Massachusetts. She worked there diligently for 15 years until her retirement.
During her years at the Marriott, Marie was well-loved by all employees and earned everyone's respect with her positive attitude and natural leadership. After she retired, she began her second full-time job at home - lovingly caring for her mother until her passing at the remarkable age of 100.
Marie loved having people around. Her jokes were always ready on the tip of her lips, and she always had a quick response for anyone who crossed the line. She was a woman of grace, resilience, and compassion who brought light to all those around her.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Marie will deeply miss her warm heart, nurturing spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. Her memory will forever remain a blessing to all who loved her.
