Marie C. LaForest

PLATTSBURGH – Marie LaForest, 83, formerly of Route 22, West Chazy, passed away December 31, 2025.

She was born on May 30, 1942, daughter of Wilfred and Clara (Gagne) Chartier.

Marie married Leon LaForest at the home of his daughter in 1993. She worked as a waitress at several restaurants in the North Country for many years, and then did Senior Home Care in the Champlain and Rouses Point areas.

Marie was active in her community and was a RSVP and Hospice volunteer, a catechism teacher at St. Mary's in Champlain, a Cub Scout Den Mother in Perry's Mills, and also operated a registered adult home.

Her kindness and giving nature will be forever remembered by all those she helped.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Armstrong, John (Linda) Armstrong, James (Lynn) Armstrong, Mark Armstrong, and Rose-Marie Armstrong; siblings, Maurice (Allyne) Chartier, and Marie-Anne Rabideau; sister-in-law, John Chartier; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was predeceased by her husband Leon LaForest; brother, John Chartier; and brother-in-law, Floyd Rabideau.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
