Marie Lally of Mechanicsville, MD was a proud and caring mother, partner and friend. She left this world suddenly to be reunited with her heavenly family on February 11, 2022, one day after her 55th birthday.
Originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Marie moved to Maryland in 1989 after graduating with her Bachelor's degree in statistics and economics from Temple University. Marie was a passionate, and ambitious hard worker from the moment that she entered the work force, but her favorite career started a few years later down the road when she became a mother.
Marie was the proud mother of her daughter, Mariel. Those who have had the pleasure to know Marie have experienced the loving bond between her and her daughter and have heard Marie proudly boast about Mariel's profession and success. It did not matter if you were one of Marie's lifelong friends, or a stranger she met on the street – she was going to tell you about her daughter, "the panda keeper" whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Marie was a well-known real estate agent in Southern Maryland, a Diamond Award recipient, and a top producer for O'Brien Realty for numerous years. Marie treated her clients with professionalism, honesty and care like they were her own family. She was known for being available no matter the hour, continuing friendships with her clients years after transactions and making each step of the home buying and selling process memorable and enjoyable.
Marie had many passions outside of being a mother and her profession, with photography and wildlife, specifically birds, being among her favorite. Her mornings were devoted to feeding and caring for not only her indoor pets, but also the birds that visited her deck. She created an elaborate set up for the local songbirds with feeding stations, perching and even protection from predator birds to ensure that they could eat safely throughout all seasons of the year. Marie would take this opportunity to "shoot" photos of the birds through her kitchen window, capturing beautiful images that looked as if they were taken in a forest or valley. Her and her partner, Tony, frequented parks in the local region to take photos and enjoy a wide variety of birds with Conowingo Dam and Huntley Meadows Park being two of her favorite sites.
Over the last year of her life, Marie started an interest in photographing more than just the native wildlife. She began taking classes for studio photography and fell in love with creating elaborate clothing and headpieces to fit the style of photos she liked the most. Her dogs, Sam and Ava, and daughter, Mariel, were her most frequent subject of her photos. She submitted her photos into contests and received Bronze Awards for them on her first try – she was truly gifted. For Marie, taking photos that she enjoyed was an escape from the busy world around her and was something she hoped to one day turn into a profession.
Marie is preceded in death by her father Paul. She is survived by her daughter Mariel, her life partner Tony, her mother Kathy, her brother Paul (Debbie), her dogs whom she viewed as her other children Sam and Ava, and her well-loved birds Lucy and Ethel.
