Marie Ann Meisel, nee Diamond, 97, died peacefully at home in Southbury, CT, on August 13, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Meisel, and cherished mother of Ronald; Paul and his wife, Cheryl; James and his partner Nancy; and Gary. She was G-Marie to her three loving grandsons and their spouses, Peter (Liz), Alex (Annie), and Andrew (Lauren), and to her great-grandchildren Riley, Zara, Max, and Amelia.

Marie was born in New York City on December 28, 1927, to Zara and Philip Diamond. She was a graduate of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School and Keuka College. In New York, Marie worked in publishing at Simon & Schuster and later at The Pergamon Press. Among her many delightful stories about growing up in a big, close-knit family were those about annual summer vacations at the Jersey Shore with her parents and brother, Sandy, and countless cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Bob and Marie moved to Heritage Crest from Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., in the 1980s after Bob "retired" from IBM. Marie was an avid bridge player and enjoyed tennis and paddle tennis. She was a longtime volunteer at the Southbury Library, and for the League of Women Voters and Planned Parenthood.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Memorial donations can be made in Marie's name to The Southbury Library.

The Carpino Funeral Home of Southbury has been entrusted with the arrangements. To leave a message of remembrance, please visit https://www.CarpinoFuneralHome.com.
