Marie Stankowski, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home on Tuesday, February 5th, at the age of 97. Marie was born in Cudahy, Wisconsin on April 22, 1927, to Stanley & Helen (nee Fedor) Stankowski.
At the age of 13, Marie entered the Felician Sisters Catholic convent, where she lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. During this time, she received her high school and college degrees. After 25+ years of serving the Catholic Church as a teacher and organist, she became a teacher for Milwaukee Public Schools in 1971. She taught elementary education throughout the district, then went on to get her Master's in Education from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. She was a reading resource specialist at Longfellow Elementary until her retirement in 1994 after 22+ years with MPS. Marie was the best, and we will all miss her so much. She was our Peddie.
