Surrounded by family, Marietta Marguerite Richmond Loyd peacefully departed this life to her heavenly home on September 26, 2025, at the age of 86. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful Christian. Marguerite was born the fifth of ten children to Eli and Beulah Richmond on July 2, 1939, in Oakdale, Louisiana. She was raised in Oakdale and later as a teenager, moved to Vivian, Louisiana, where she graduated from North Caddo High School in 1959. That same year she married the love of her life, Darrell Loyd, with whom she shared a loving marriage for 49 years until his passing. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to family.
Marguerite knew the Lord from a young age and at 14 she accepted him as her savior, a decision that shaped her entire life. She was a member of Indian Hills Baptist Church, where she found strength in her walk with the Lord and joy in fellowship. Her Christian faith guided every part of her life, and she passed on that faith to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who were her greatest blessing.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Darrell Meryl Loyd; her daughter, Joy Tyrell Loyd-Estep; her granddaughter, Lacey Brooke Oakes; her parents, Eli Richmond and Beulah Jordan Richmond; her brothers, Ralph Richmond and Charles Richmond; and her sisters, Eva Mae Hayden, Shirley McCullough, and Audrey Holcomb.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Loyd Avery and husband, Randy; her son, Darrell Stirling Loyd and wife, Kristi; grandchildren, Brock Oakes and wife, Melissa, Dade Loyd and Emma Loyd; great-grandchildren, Macen Nix, Reide Oakes, Noah Bradshaw, and Amelia Oakes; step-great-grandchild, Hadley Hertz; brother, James Harold Richmond; sisters, Martha Mollette, Norma Sue Jeansonne, and Lana Faye Paul; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Savior.
Honoring Marguerite as pallbearers will be Stirling Loyd, Brock Oakes, Dade Loyd, Noah Bradshaw, Randy McCullough, and Shannon Worley.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana.
