Marietta Webber Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory - De Pere on Nov. 14, 2025.
On November 10, 2025, Marietta Webber earned her wings and is now rejoicing in the arms of Jesus. She was born February 20, 1937, to Harvey and Nina Van Slyck in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her parents' love and care created a warm and beautiful home for her and her sister, Joan, laying the foundation for the loving, generous woman she would become.
Marietta met her husband Francis while she worked as a receptionist and he as a sales representative. They fell in love, and she moved to Chicago to begin her life with him. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and family. She cherished raising their three children-Martin, Scott, and Liza-and made a home that overflowed with warmth, joy, and countless happy memories.
Growing up in her home meant learning the magic of a well-cooked meal. She was an incredible cook, and every night she prepared sit-down dinners that filled the house with enticing aromas. Sundays were especially memorable, spent in the kitchen as she devoted hours creating gourmet meals for the whole family to enjoy. To this day, we try to recreate those meals, though we never can.
Our home was always alive with love-and with animals. Dogs, cats, rabbits, a parakeet, and even a macaw were all part of the family. She showed dogs and proudly had a National Champion Akita named Smoke. She loved and nurtured every creature who crossed her path.
The house was filled with antiques and artifacts from their travels, adding a unique charm to every corner. Her decorations were over-the-top beautiful, and she transformed the home into a winter wonderland at Christmas. The twinkling lights, the garlands, the ornaments-everything reflected her love for beauty and tradition. Thanksgiving and Christmas were especially meaningful, not just because of the food and decorations, but because of the love she infused into every detail, creating memories that we will carry forever.
Marietta also had a green thumb that could make anything flourish. Her sunroom was a sanctuary of vibrant greenery, cacti, and breathtaking orchids that she nurtured with care.
She had a warm and generous spirit, and anyone who met her felt it immediately. Her gregarious nature, endless compliments, quick wit, and fun-loving personality brought joy to everyone she encountered. She had a way of making ordinary moments extraordinary and leaving people feeling loved and appreciated. She was, quite simply, a beautiful human being.
Marietta leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Francis Webber; her sons, Marty (Denise) Webber and Scott Webber; her daughter, Liza (Steve) Quigley; grandchildren Conrad Webber, Melana Webber, and Brett Quigley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Nina Van Slyck; her sister, Joan Betsworth; and her in-laws.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Allouez Senior Living and Moments Hospice. You are all angels on Earth. The kindness, patience, and warmth you shared with Marietta over the last five years will never be forgotten and will remain in our hearts forever.
A private service will be held for the family over Thanksgiving weekend to honor the remarkable life of a woman whose love, laughter, and spirit touched everyone who knew her.
