Marilona "Susie" Stoutner, 78, of Peru, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 26, 2024 at Liberty Village of Princeton.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 16, at the Waltham Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joel Stevenor officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 9:00 AM until time of services. Private graveside services will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in La Salle. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Mrs. Stoutner was born in Burlington, IA on April 23, 1946 to Dean Hamilton and Ruth Lois (Williams) Gipple. She graduated from Winfield-Mt. Union High School in Winfield, IA, Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, IA, earned a BS Degree from University of St. Francis in Joliet, and was a nationally accredited hemodialysis RN. On August 31, 1968, she married Omar James Stoutner at Spring Run Church in Winfield, IA. They were married by a hospital chaplain that Susie befriended during her training. They were parents to Catherine Sue Stoutner and Rebecca Ann Patrick.
Susie was blessed with five grandchildren Henry Thomas Stultz, William Harper Stultz, Peter Luke Patrick, Samuel James Patrick, and Olivia Ann Patrick.
Mrs. Stoutner worked for 44 years as an RN. Her professional career was in various capacities. She worked in supervision, ICU, ER, hemodialysis, and acute hemodialysis. She had treasured memories of the MDs, coworkers, and patients with which she worked.
Mrs. Stoutner is survived by her husband OJ of Peru, her two daughters; her five grandchildren, two brothers Danny (Joyce) Gipple and Melvin (Irene) Gipple, and two sisters Nancy (Bob) Thorkildson and Alice (Todd) Redalen.
The family is thankful for the care she received at Liberty Village in Princeton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lily Pads, Horizon House, or the IVCC Foundation.
