Her Legacy… Marilyn Joan Bennett, 89, passed away February 4, 2026. She was born on June 6, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to Marshall Borton and Marion (Kurzava) Borton. Marilyn married the love of her life, James Bennett, on September 25, 1954, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Marilyn was quiet, but very witty. She was an avid reader and taught her children and grandchildren the importance of reading and education. Marilyn enjoyed swimming - so much so that she had a swimming pool installed in her backyard, which became a gathering place for family, friends, and neighbors. She also loved being on the lake, golfing, and ice skating. She loved to cook and keep her house orderly. Marilyn was very involved in Bennetts Beavers, a beloved organization in the community that was founded by Jim in 1995. Marilyn adored her grandchildren and her family meant everything to her. She was kind, generous, and a joy to know. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her Family… Marilyn will be missed by her husband of 71 years, Jim Bennett, and many others including her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Children include Lisa (Bryan) Haas, Marcia, Susan (Rick) Rodriguez; grandchildren include Lyndsey (Mike), Tyler, Julian, Chavez, Hayley (Emerson); and great-granddaughter, Chloe. She had numerous nieces and nephews and was especially close to her niece, Vicki Reck. Marilyn will also be missed by her sisters-in-law, Margaret Allison and MaryJane Bowers. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Marion Borton; and sister, Carol Rowland.

Her Farewell… Marilyn's family and friends will gather Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00AM-12:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Hamburg, Michigan. Her Community Farewell will take place at 12:00PM. Pastor Dan Quagliata will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bennett's Beavers https://www.bennettsbeavers.com/.
