Marilyn Jean Blake, the fourth child born to John and Pattie Dawson (nee Hardy) was born on March 27, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. Jean, as she was called by her family and friends, graduated from Brooklyn High School for Homemaking (later Clara Barton High School) and entered the workforce in 1968. She worked in direct patient care in Brooklyn Hospitals for several years and retired in 1990 after over 20 years in the billing department of Long Island College Hospital.
Jean married Vincent Blake and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Stephanie Anne and Baron Austin. She was a proud and protective mother who supported her children's dreams and shared their achievements with everyone she knew. Jean also shared a love of African artwork and collectibles with her sister, Rita. She had a playful and spirited sense of humor and loved to laugh. Her spirit kept her youthful throughout her beautiful 94 years of life.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Sterling, Herbert, Lucille, Stanley, and Rita; her first husband Vincent and her second husband George (Otto) Thomas.
She is survived by her loving children, Dr. Stephanie Blake and Baron Blake; her granddaughter Brianna Hopps; her niece Sabrina Jackson, and many other relatives and friends.
