Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend Marilyn Richins Call, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born on March 5, 1940, in Preston, Idaho, to Lyle Parley and Luena Davis Richins. She grew up in Henefer, Utah.
Marilyn married Nilo R. Call on December 16, 1960, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They enjoyed 63 years together. They raised their five children in Missouri, California, and Arizona before coming “home” to Ogden, Utah.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings including Stake Primary, Stake Choir Director, Usher at Temple Square. She was thrilled to meet President Hinckley during one of his visits while directing a choir. She treasured writing and directing fantastic Road Shows. Nilo and Marilyn served a fulltime in the Texas, San Antonio Mission. Marilyn was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Besides raising five wonderful children, she also tended to many plants, and her lovely roses. Marilyn fiercely loved her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very fond of dark chocolate and enjoyed musical theater, literature, babies, and music in general. Marilyn acquired a fan club wherever she went. She was very much loved.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Nilo; children, Todd (Anita) of Kingston, MO; Ryan (Corie) of Farr West, UT; Jonathan (Staci) of North Ogden, UT; Kirsten (Mick) Hafen of Pleasant View, UT; Karin (Bob) McLeod of St. Goerge, UT; brother, Van Richins, Alexandria, VA; sister, Sharon Best, Sparks, NV; and sister-in-law, Maurine Call, North Ogden, UT. She was preceded in death by her newborn grandson, Peter and her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville Stake Center, 1560 North 200 West. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
