Marilyn Jean Chapmon

1947 - 2024

Marilyn Jean Chapmon, 76, of Miles City, Montana passed away on Saturday February 10, 2024, in her home with her family by her side.

On a summer stormy day on July 9, 1947, Marilyn graced this world. She was the second daughter to Ole and Gladys Almli. In 62' she lost her father and she worked hard to help maintain a life for her and her mother.

Marilyn graduated high school in 1965 and she used to talk a lot about driving her niece Sherry around all the time in her cherry red camaro.

After high school, she married Harold Tait and shortly after their union, her first son Shannon Jay Tait was born.They separated when Shannon was 2 years old.

She sometimes talked about her time living in Oregon, California and Billings before settling back in Miles City with Shannon when he was approximately 3 years old.

In December of 1976, she graduated from LPN school and passed her boards May 18, 1977. She would reminisce about working for the VA hospital, completing further training to be able to fly with Veterans to bigger hospitals so that they were able to get the care they needed. Later she would also work at the Garberson clinic and create some life long friendships.

In 1978, she was in a mixed bowling league with her niece Sherry where she met the love of her life, Chai Chapmon. Her beauty had caught his eye almost instantaneously and after the second week he had asked her out for coffee; and like he said "the rest was history".

On June 21, 1980, they were wed, and from this union came her second son Tyler Chai Chapmon. Lord knows that he definitely gave her a run for her money, but she loved each and every minute. She would often laugh about all the things that Tyler would do to cause trouble around the house.

On December 2, 1985 her first and only daughter was born Holly Lyn (Chapmon) Parsons. She said that she had cried often through her pregnancy thinking that she was having another boy, but she finally had her girl.

There were many cleaning days on the weekend spent mostly dancing to Ronnie Milsap, Gary Lewis and the Playboys and we can't forget the Supremes on record. Later on, , the Underpants Song would be added to her collection.

Marilyn was passionate about many things. She loved to do crafts and most of all she made elaborate quilts. She not only made quilts for her family and friends, she also made quilts just to donate them. She spent many hours with the quilting ladies.

Like her mother paying for groceries with nickels, dimes, and quarters, she would spend forever ordering a ground round deluxe at the Airport Inn or a Big and Tasty with what her children would call, a hamburger with mustard and pickles only.

In the years to come she would add more love to her family. On June 4, 1994 she gained DeeDee (Davis) Tait. On June 4, 2005 Karissa (Feller) Chapmon and on June 7, 2014 Kelly Parsons. From these unions arose 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren that she did not have the opportunity to meet. It meant the world to her to be able to spend time with her loved ones and her animals.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years Chai, her sons, Shannon (DeeDee) Tait and Tyler (Karissa) Chapmon and her daughter Holly (Kelly) Parsons. She is also survived by her grandchildren Trevor (Morgan) Tait, Brianna (Seth) Crist and Brittany Tait. Mason, Dillon, Alexis, Triston and Alaina Chapmon as well as Kamden and Kolten Parsons. Her two great-grand babies. Her sister-in laws and brother-in law in Thailand, and her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Alfred & Nellie Dundas as well as Ingebrit & Merit Almli, her parents Ole & Gladys Almli, her sister Karen, her niece Sherry (Mark) Schmitz, her nephew Donny and many other close aunts, uncles and cousins. Her dogs Tuffy, Maximillion, Sarge, and her cat mouser. All of whom she embraced when she strolled through those heavenly gates.

Family and friends will be planning a Celebration of Life in her honor at a later date.
