Marilyn Evans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast on Dec. 23, 2025.
Marilyn K. Evans, 82, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. Born on June 11, 1943, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of Muriel Sponaugle Marshall and William F. Marshall, who preceded her in death.

Marilyn lived a life marked by hard work, independence, and deep devotion to her family. She began her professional career at Harter Bank in Canton, Ohio, where she worked from 1962 to 1972. Her career then took her to Jacksonville, Florida, where she worked for the Jacksonville Port Authority from 1972 to 1976. Marilyn later spent over two decades with Sea-Land/CSX Transportation, from 1976 until her retirement in 1998, earning the respect of colleagues through her reliability and strong work ethic.

Outside of her career, Marilyn found her greatest joy in traveling and spending time at the beach. The ocean brought her peace, and she cherished moments spent near the water, soaking in the sun and the calm it provided. She embraced life's adventures with grace and curiosity, creating memories that will be treasured by those who knew her best.

Marilyn was a loving sister and devoted mother. She is survived by her sister, Myrna Peters of Maryland; her brother, Richard Marshall of Ohio; and her daughter, Jill Collins of Palm Coast, Florida, who was the center of her world. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Marshall.

Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the quiet love she shared so generously. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Over past decade my wife and I have very fond memories of Marilyn Evans. Marilyn's graciousness, generosity and hospitality displayed her genuine love for her guests. She was really interested in our lives and the lives of our children. After every visit we knew we would be welcomed back. She knew we had busy lives and was just happy to spend time with us on our schedule. I plan to practice being other centered like Marilyn.
