Jerald Evans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home & Garden of Memories on Feb. 10, 2026.
Born 08-22-1939 to Lawrence C. and LaRue Evans. He graduated from Stephen F Austin High School and then attending the University of Houston for three years before joining the Air Force. Transitioned to the Air Force reserves and then entered the Electrical apprenticeship program and followed in his father's footsteps after being declined a position on the U of H baseball team: baseball was dad's favorite sport! Jerry was also an avid golfer and didn't really care what his score was, he just enjoyed being able to go out and play. He also enjoyed poker and dominos very much. While he was living at Emerald Oaks he was known as "Bingo Jerry" as he loved being able to help out and serve others by calling bingo for everyone! Jerry loved attending his Tuesday morning Bible study where he came to realize the most important thing in life is our relationship with Christ and our abilities to serve others in whatever that capacity might be.

Jerry met the love of his life (Barbara) on a blind date at a bowling alley as he was a bowling and dance instructor while working his way through the apprenticeship school. Jerry worked for several electrical company's throughout his 55 year electrical career. Some of his most famous projects are the Houston Astrodome, the Big Hill Oil Refinery, The Duetsce Bank Center (formerly Time Warner) in New York, and the City Center in Las Vegas, NV. Jerry loved games! Poker, 42, straight dominos, slot machines, and especially golf. Jerry is preceded in death by his sister Nancy, parents L.C and LaRue Evans, his wife Barbara, and son Richard. He is survived by his son David, daughter-in-law Annette, and granddaughters Claire and Candice along with several great grandchildren.
