Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center - South Jordan on Jan. 26, 2026.
Our wonderful mother, Marilyn Fluckiger, finished her mission here on earth and returned to her Heavenly Father on January 23, 2026.
Marilyn was born on September 23, 1938 in Afton, (Star Valley) Wyoming to Leslie Alfred and Maurine Tippets Harrison. She was raised on a farm where she learned the value of hard work early in life - irrigating fields, driving tractors, using horses to pull stackers to haul hay, and hand-milking cows alongside her father from the age of ten until her marriage. From her mother, she learned to cook, sew, bottle fruit, and bake bread - skills she carried with her throughout her life. She attended Star Valley High School.
She married her high school sweetheart, Duane Fluckiger, on May 12, 1955, at the age of 16. They are the parents of four children: Karen, Sherry, Terry, and Debi. Marilyn and Duane moved to Salt Lake in 1956. Together they built the company, Ready Made Builders Supply. They divorced after 19 years of marriage.
Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a 12-month mission at the age of 50 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She also served as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.
She was a volunteer during the 2002 Winter Olympics, and for years at Jordan Valley Hospital.
Marilyn pursued a successful career in real estate, earning her realtor's license, later her broker's license, and created/founded Terra Vista Real Estate. She especially loved working alongside her children, Karen and Terry, and grandchildren, Heather Gailey and Blake Fluckiger in the business. She was very successful in selling newly constructed houses for Ron Thorne Homes.
Marilyn had a deep love for adventure and family time. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She would rather work in the yard than in the house. She enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and traveled extensively with her family to destinations including Hawaii, Florida, California, Wyoming, Alaska, Washington (to the World's Fair), Mexico City, Acapulco, Mazatlán, and Canada. She rode motorcycles, went parachuting twice, took flying lessons, skied, square danced, and was an enthusiastic Utah Jazz basketball fan.
She enjoyed tying quilts for the family. One Christmas she made 39 snuggly flannel quilts for her children and grandchildren and embroidered each child's name on their quilt. She also cherished the time spent scrapbooking with Karen and Sherry.
Marilyn is survived by her siblings: Virden Harrison (Jean), Adele Cook, Dennis Harrison (Martha), Vicki Cutler (Don), and Karla Harrison; her children Sherry Tegtmeier (Frank), Terry Fluckiger (Pam), and Debi Fluckiger; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Maurine Harrison, her sisters NaDee Davidson and Darlene Jones; her daughter Karen Gailey (Scott); her grandchildren Andrea Gailey and Alex Fluckiger; and great granddaughter Aleah Pusey.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Carrington Court Memory Care Center for the tender care you gave to our mom. It was deeply appreciated by the family.
Visitation with the family will be held at 12:30 with services beginning at 1pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan. Interment will follow at South Jordan Cemetery, 10630 South 1055 West,
