Marilyn Ann Fox, age 89 of Markesan, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
Marilyn was born on October 21, 1936, daughter of Leo and Thelma (Geidel) Kaiser. She was united in marriage to Wayne Fox on November 30, 1957 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1954 and continued her education at Mayville Teacher College. Later, she graduated from Marion College in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Marilyn dedicated thirty years of her life to teaching. She began her career at Alto School and continued at the Markesan School District, where she made a positive impact in the lives of many students.
Marilyn had a remarkable ability to make learning enjoyable for her students. She introduced learning centers in her classroom and shared delightful moments with her students through the adventures of the Magic School Bus, which she also enjoyed with her grandchildren.
In addition to her teaching, Marilyn had a passion for quilting and loved to teach her grandchildren how to sew. She found joy in her travels, particularly her cherished trip to Wales with a good friend. Marilyn was a member of Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church, where she participated in her community with warmth and kindness.
Marilyn Ann Fox will be remembered for her dedication to education, her love for her family, and her joyful spirit.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Wayne Fox of 68 years; her three daughters, Debra (Mike) Dulas, Dixie (Wayne) Gaastra and Kathy (Rick) Wargula; seven grandchildren, Jenny (Ryan) Nelson, Chris Dulas, Bill (Laura) Gaastra, Andy (Jenna) Gaastra, Jessica (Tim Holland) Krueger, Ross (Michelle) Wargula, and Chelcey (Spencer) Jochem; twelve great grandchildren, Haylie, McKenna, Brayden, Colin, Skylar, Coty, Easton, Mason, Faye, Brooks, Emric and Otto; further survived by her brother, Steve (Vicki) Kaiser; in-laws, Bill (Bev) Fox, J.R. (Val) Fox and Mary (Art) Ehlert; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia (Jim) Schulz; sister-in-law, Jane (Clarence) Zanto, brothers-in-law, Jim (Gloria) Fox and Ralph (Pat) Fox.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church W3278 County Road K, Markesan, WI 53946.
A funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at church with pastor Kyle Witek officiating. Burial will take place at Phelps Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be established in Marilyn’s name and decided at a later date.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided at Markesan Resident Home during her final days.
