Marilyn Marie Ratcliff Hiser, 92, of Clarksburg, Ohio, passed from this life Sunday morning, September 14, 2025, at National Church Residences (NCR), Chillicothe, Ohio.
Born Monday, October 24, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, Marilyn was the oldest daughter of the late Ralph R. and Olive Lotz Ratcliff. Marilyn grew up on the family farm in Londonderry, Ohio, where she was a member of the Londonderry United Methodist Church, active in 4-H and the Ross County Fair, Farm Bureau Youth, and school activities. Marilyn graduated as valedictorian from Southeastern High School, Richmond Dale, Ohio in 1950 and attended Ohio University, Chillicothe, while employed at Citizens Bank in Chillicothe. On November 8, 1953, Marilyn married James M. Hiser, who preceded her in death. They were married for 54 wonderful years.
Marilyn is survived by her three daughters; Deborah (Paul) Andre of Wauseon, Ohio, Beth (Tom) Ramsey of Clarksburg, Ohio and Karen (Greg) Cantrell of Wooster, Ohio; her brother, Charles (Freda) Ratcliff of Londonderry; nine grandchildren, Jim (Ann) Ramsey, Becky (Justin) Hemm, Greg (Jessica) Ramsey, David (Kate) Andre, Mark (Elli) Andre, Tim (Anna) Andre, Kim Cantrell, Katie (David) Trayte, and Kevin Cantrell; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Virginia Ann (Don) Roth.
Marilyn spent her time being a full-time housewife, a mother, and a partner with her husband in J. M. Hiser Seeds, Clarksburg, Ohio. She was a member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving on numerous committees. She loved being with her family and enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, crafts and genealogy.
The family sends sincere appreciation to all the NCR caregivers, the Hospice caregivers, and Chaplain Aaron. Thank you so much.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Clarksburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Wood Salyers officiating. Following the service, Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jim, in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Friends may call on Saturday at the Clarksburg UMC from 11 a.m. to the time of the service. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.
