Watch Marilyn's Funeral Here
Marilyn Kaiser, age 70, of
Mahnomen, MN, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Sanford Hospice House in
Fargo, ND.
Marilyn Kay, the daughter of Leslie and Ethel (Grimsrud) Hanson, was born in Mahnomen on November 7, 1952. She grew up in Mahnomen where she attended school. Following her graduation with the class of 1971, Marilyn furthered her education in business. As a young woman, she attended Hibbing Community College and St. Cloud School of Business. She also worked at FingerHut. Shortly thereafter, she returned to Mahnomen and started working in the operation department at First National Bank in Mahnomen. She met Rick Kaiser and through the persistence of friends, they began dating. Rick and Marilyn were united in marriage on June 14, 1980. They made their home together in Mahnomen and raised two precious children. She retired from the bank in 2013 and embraced her free time. Marilyn was very active in the community and loved time with her family. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed the Red Hatters Club. Marilyn always made time for coffee and shared many wonderful conversations with friends. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, and going to the casino. She was a talented baker and made delicious cakes for special events. Marilyn especially enjoyed her getaways with friends and time at the lake. After years of dreaming, Marilyn and Rick were delighted when they finally purchased their own cabin on Union Lake. Being at the lake and spending time with her grandchildren were, above all, Marilyn's favorite things to do. She wore her life's moto on her favorite shirt- "Live Generously" which she practiced every day. Her smile, loving spirit, and friendship will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Rick of Mahnomen; her daughter, Brenda (Ryan) Halland of
Hawley, MN; one son, Scott Kaiser of
Thief River Falls, MN; two grandchildren: Grant and Greta Halland; three sisters: Ann (Ron) Oliveri, Carol (Ken) Pierce, and Linda (John) Simon; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law:, Dave (Mary) Kaiser, Sandy (Paul) Peterick, Sherry "Ope" (Paul) Rodermacher, SuzAnn Kaiser, and Leo Kaiser; as well as many nieces and nephews.
