Marilyn Kelley was born on July 25, 1946, in Camden, Texas, to James Edward Broom and Lela Wiggins Broom. She passed away peacefully in Lufkin, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of seventy-nine years.

Marilyn lived a life filled with love, hard work, and joy in the simple things. She cherished every moment she could spend with her family and friends, who were the center of her life. She worked diligently in all that she did, always giving her best. Marilyn especially loved being outdoors, with some of her happiest times spent out at camp, surrounded by nature. A gifted photographer, she also enjoyed capturing those special moments and preserving memories through her pictures.

She was a proud graduate of Corrigan High School and went on to attend Massey Business School in Lufkin, Texas. Raised in faith, Marilyn grew up attending the Methodist church alongside her family, grounding her life in Christian values.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lela Broom; and her sister, Linda Nell Delafosse.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Liljequist; her sister, Pamela Dial and husband, Lindel; nephews and nieces: Tony Liljequist, Tera Murphree and husband, Barry, Tina Sullivan and husband, Wes, Shane Liljequist, Brad Delafosse, Jay Delafosse and wife, Emily, Tonia Purvis and husband, Edmond, and Trampas Hensley and wife, Ashley; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Services
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Stryker Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas, with Pastor Leslie Wilkinson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Trent Hensley, Trampas Hensley, Jay Delafosse, Edmond Purvis, Brad Delafosse, and Will Maxey.
Honorary Pallbearers are Luccasee Delafosse, Chance Cooper Delafosse,Tony Liljequist, Shane Liljequist, Milt Purvis, Wes Sullivan and Wyatt Sullivan.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Corrigan Nutrition Center for their kindness, support, and care shown to Marilyn.

Marilyn's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her life will be remembered for the kindness, strength, and joy she brought to others. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in her heavenly home.
