Marilyn Jean (Robinson) Lopez, 84 of Northfield, passed away on December 3, 2024 after a brief illness.
Marilyn was born on April 26, 1940 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Charles E. Robinson and Dorothy (Rice) Robinson. She was a graduate of Bassick High School Class of 1959.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Lori Poulin and husband John of Northfield, her siblings Marshall Robinson of Cheshire and Helen Hartel of East Haven, her grandson Spencer Poulin and wife Laura of Wallingford, and a village of close friends who will miss her beyond measure. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lopez and her brother Charles E. Robinson Jr.
Marilyn was a devoted volunteer at the Phoenix Stage Company in Oakville for nearly a decade. Everyone there called her "Grandma" and that moniker was even on her nametag. She was famous for her hugs and was always available to dole them out to any and all actors in a production. She always met theater patrons with a warm greeting when she volunteered behind the concession stand. Her laughter and smile were fixtures at almost every theater event, show and fundraiser.
Outside of her volunteer work, Marilyn had many hobbies that kept her active and brought joy to her life. She loved playing cards and board games with friends, searching for treasures at tag sales and hosting sales herself, taking care of the birds in her yard, and trying new recipes to share with her loved ones.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home in Litchfield. A brief service will begin at 6:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of one's choice. Family and friends ask that you keep your loved ones close and give them a big hug in Marilyn's honor.
