Marilyn Jean (Winje) Lund, age 92, of Fridley, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Fridley, MN. A devoted wife who is now at peace with her husband who passed May 2025. They are together again in heaven.

Marilyn was born in Breckenridge, MN on December 27, 1933, to Herbert and Ida (Garad) Winje. She spoke fondly of her childhood in Clinton, MN. After high school, she attended St. Cloud Beauty School and moved to Little Falls, MN to work as a beautician. She met Richard (Dick) Lund at the Falls Ballroom, and they united in marriage at Church of the Holy Rosary, Graceville, MN on May 12, 1956. They raised six children in Fridley, MN.

Marilyn was a homemaker who took to heart the care of her family and home. In addition to taking care of her family, she was also a licensed day care provider. Marilyn was also a “Avon lady” and she would save the money she made to buy Christmas gifts for the kids.

After retirement, Dick and Marilyn were Minnesota snowbirds, traveling with their camper to Florida and Arizona, eventually finding their favorite winter location in Alamo, TX. When their snowbird time ended, they spent their time in the family home in Fridley and summers at the cabin. They survived the 1965 Fridley tornado and then many years later they also survived a tornado while wintering in Arizona! Dick and Marilyn enjoyed dancing – polka, line, and waltz. Marilyn particularly loved to waltz to Blue Skirt Waltz.

Marilyn enjoyed sewing, crafting, and knitting. She knitted afghan blankets for all her grandkids as high school graduation gifts. She enjoyed baking and each year Marilyn baked lots of delicious Christmas cookies. Marilyn was always sure to bake one of her favorites – the Holiday Fruit Drops - which included dates, candied cherries, and nuts. Not a child’s favorite, but she baked them because she liked them! In later years, Marilyn enjoyed puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, and coloring. Through the years, Marilyn always enjoyed playing cards. You would always find a deck of cards on the kitchen table ready to be played. If you found Marilyn sitting at the table, she was most likely playing her favorite card game - Solitaire! She rooted for the Minnesota Twins and looked forward to growing her flowers in the summer - particularly zinnias.

Marilyn is survived by children, Cindy (Dave) Halek, Sue (Mark) Ervasti, Ron (Pam) Lund, Sandy Hossalla, Ginny Lund, and Bill (Megan) Lund. Grandchildren, Kim (Aaron) Shidla, Krissy (Paul) Condon, Katie (Jon) Heil, Angela (Brian) Reed, Briana Halek, Andrew (Jory) Hossalla, Jimmy (Keely) Hossalla, Becca, Jessi, Keenan, Nolan, and Tory Lund. Great-grandchildren, Rylee Melcher, Madison and Kassidy Reed, Jacob and Lily Shidla, Ervin, Ethan, Elliot and Edie Condon, Jay and Tommy Heil, Harper and Renner Hossalla, Charlotte Hossalla; sister Audrey Wellendorf and sister-in-law Sue Winje, and many nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and beloved cats, Goldie and Kitty.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her dancing partner of 69 years, her husband, Dick; grandchildren, Joseph Mark Ervasti and Ryanne Aileen Lund; parents, Herb and Ida Winje; siblings, twin sister, Marguerite Krey and brother Robert Winje; brothers-in-law Donald Wellendorf, Walter Krey, Alois Bursey, John Bursey, Ray Kujacznski, Herb Schneider, Dan, Raymond, Clarence, Leonard and Jerome Lund, and sisters-in law Jeanne Bursey, Catherine Kujacznski, Leona Bursey, Loretta Schneider and Frances, Mary and Marge Lund.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, December 31st, at 11:00 AM at Church of St. William, 6120 5th St. NE., Fridley. Visitation Tuesday, December 30th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 6210 Hwy 65 NE, Fridley, and 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Interment Friday January 2nd, at 11:00 AM at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.

Marilyn found comfort in her faith, her prayer books and watching daily mass. In memory of Marilyn, take time to pray today.
