MARILYN A. MAYENSCHEIN, age 74, of Thorp, WI, peacefully passed away at home on Friday, August 30, 2024 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Stanislaus Michael Antony will officiate, and burial will follow in the Town of Butler Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9am until time of service, with a Thorp American Legion Auxiliary service at 10:20am.
Marilyn Ann Dubicki was born on November 26, 1949 in Wisconsin, the daughter of Stanley T. and Helen W. (Grusecki) Dubicki. She was raised on the family farm northwest of Thorp, and received her education in Thorp area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1967. Marilyn then attended UW-Eau Claire where she studied Biology. She was united in marriage to David W. Mayenschein on April 12, 1969 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. They moved to Milwaukee where their two eldest daughters were born, before moving back to Thorp in 1974. Dave and Marilyn took over the Mayenschein family dairy farm, which they ran for 35 years. This is where they made their home and raised their four children, whom she was very proud of. After selling the farm to their son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lia, they continued to help on the farm and resided there until her passing.
She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW, Thorp American Legion Auxiliary Post 118, Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary #550, Vietnam Veterans of America Auxiliary #5, was active in 4-H where she coached softball, and was the Town of Butler treasurer for several years.
Marilyn had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family. She always said she was blessed to have married into a large, loving family. She also enjoyed, fishing, bowling, and traveling with Dave, particularly their trips to Ireland, Austria and Italy.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, David; four children: Wendy (Matt) Dahlberg of Janesville, WI, Cynthia (Scott) Anderegg of Augusta, WI, Kathleen Mayenschein (Brad DeMotts) of Rockford, IL, Michael (Lia) Mayenschein of Thorp; 10 grandchildren: Lucas (Tessa) Dahlberg, Justin Dahlberg, Brian Dahlberg, Taylor Mayenschein, Bailey Anderegg, Alyssa Anderegg, Felix Mayenschein, Damien Mayenschein, Raymond Mayenschein, and Gemma Mayenschein; brother and sisters-in-law: Norman (Rita) Mayenschein of Greenwood, Mary Lynn (Matt) Grajkowski of Thorp, Carol (Doug) Bottlemy of Withee, and Francis Andruszkiewicz of Thorp; Jeff & Jay Lorek whom she embraced and took into her home; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Curtis and Laura (Butler) Mayenschein; her brother-in-law, Leland Mayenschein; three sisters-in-law: Sharon Mayenschein, Judy Bauer-Mayenschein, and Marlys Andruszkiewicz; one niece, Sherri Hughes; and her dear friend, Marilyn Paul.

I did not know that Marilyn was ill. Those of us in the class of `67 have experienced a great loss as Marilyn was very special. My prayer is that her family will experience God´s grace in great measure.
