Marilyn Merry, age 85, of Dover and formerly of Caldwell, died peacefully, in Country Club Retirement Center, early Saturday, December 6, 2025, following a period of declining health.
Born in her family home at Caldwell, Ohio on November 20, 1940, Marilyn as a daughter of the late Jesse and Mildred (Nau) Merry.
She was a 1959 graduate of Caldwell High School. She worked many different jobs throughout her life, but her greatest joy was family and caring for them. In her free-time she enjoyed gardening and long walks. She was a leader of 4-H and loved to swim in her younger years. She also volunteered for the American Cancer Society.
Marilyn will be missed by her children, Elizabeth (Robert) Board, Chris Arnold, Eva Farley, and Daniel (April) Arnold; grandchildren, Rebecca (Matt Smitley) Carpenter, Quintin (Lita) Carpenter, Selina Board, Amelia (Mike Judd) Schroeder, Audra (Vinny) Schroeder, Jared (Brandi) Schroeder, Olivia (Matt Bergin) Schroeder, Ethan (Amber Wilham) Schroeder, Levi Schroeder, Wade (Trish) Farley, Amber (Kevin Amya) Arnold, Stephanie (Chris Deleon) Arnold, and Courtney Arnold; great-grandchildren, Christian Chupp, Amaya Smitley, Jackson Chupp, Braxton Chupp, Addison Smitley, Liam Smitley, Madix Bair, Quintin Carpenter II, Maddi-Lynn Bair, Claire Carpenter, Mallorie Bair, Auri Thornton, Adrian Matheson, Paisyn Carpenter, Matthias Schroeder, Norah Schroeder, Aubrie Wilham, Brecker Farley, and Hailee Farley; great-great-grandson, Addex Chupp; brother, Bill (Janet) Merry; sister, Barbara (Carlos) Tucker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by brothers, James Merry, Jesse Merry, Dale Merry, and Richard Merry; and sisters, Dorothy Schott, Ruth Handschumacher, and Cynthia Law.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A service honoring Marilyn’s life will begin at 1:00 PM.
