Marilyn Stamper Scott, 84, of Loudon, TN, passed away on July 19, 2025, at UT Trauma Center.
She was of the Baptist faith, accepted Christ at the age of 11, and was baptized on her 12th birthday. She worked at Bacon Hosiery Mill for almost 16 years. Marilyn taught Sunday School for 37 years and worked in the Loudon High School cafeteria for 26 years, followed by another 6 years as a part-time cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence ‘Junior’ Scott, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage; her father, Howard Samuel Stamper; her mother, Clara Marie Tilley Stamper; brothers, Jim W. Stamper, Kelvin Stamper, and Douglas Stamper; sister, Lucille Kirkland; and brothers-in-law, W.D. McCarrell, Referd Kirkland, Eddie Viar, J.B. Scott, Arthur Scott, and Frankie Scott.
She is survived by her sisters, Norma Jean McCarrell of Ft. Payne, Alabama, Velma Viar of Ten Mile, TN, Wanda Sue (Freeman) Kirkland of Loudon, Brenda (J.C.) Fain of New Tazewell, Naomi (Kenneth) Elkins of Athens, and Phyllis (Morgan) Viar of Madisonville; sisters-in-law, Janice Stamper of Knoxville, Vivien Stamper of Ten Mile, Polly Stamper of Athens, and Martha (David) Edgemon of Sweetwater; brother-in-law, Charlie Scott of Sweetwater. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Prospect Church in Walland, TN (519 Prospect Rd, Walland, TN).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Loudon Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 7:00 PM. Dr. Jason Sweeton and Rev. Kenneth Elkins will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Clark Cemetery in Ten Mile.
