Marilyn Sue Smith, age 77, of Portland, passed away surrounded by her family at 1:45 am on December 5, 2022. She was born on April 20, 1945, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of William and Patricia Lalone-Lewis of Portland. Marilyn was married to Fred Smith in 1963 and had 4 children, Wendy, Mark, Robin, and Joe. When Marilyn was not playing bingo, she was a huge crafter. She drove bus for Portland Public Schools for10 years, which she loved very much. She also worked part time at Country Cupboard making flower arrangements. Marilyn loved playing cards with her friends, enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and did her part by keeping QVC in business. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Emery TenEyck, husband, Frederick Smith, stepbrother, Junior Lalone, and brother, Scott Lalone. Marilyn is survived by her siblings, Amy Lalone (fiancé, Don Rapada), Terry Lalone, David Lalone; children, Robin Smith (fiancé, Rory Seal), Mark Smith (fiancé, Karen Spitzley), Joe Smith and Kristin Smith, Wendy Malpas; grandchildren, India Schafer, Victoria McNutt and Corey McNutt, Ryan Fitch (fiancé, Jamie Lee), Matt Smith and Alyssa Smith, Casey Smith, Tiffany Smith, Kiley Anderson, McKenzie Smith, Ayden Colon-Smith; great-grandkids, Bentley, Adalynn and Eleanor Smith.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
