Barbara A. Smith, 82, of Hanover Township, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing Center in Wilkes-Barre.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Stanley and Eleanor Balsavage Smith. Barbara was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from College Misericordia, and she received her Master's Degrees in Foreign Languages and in European History from NYU in New York City.

Barbara was as a teacher in Jackson Township School District, in Lakeland, NJ for 30 years. Serving as Director of Curriculum, prior to her retirement.

She is survived by her cousins, Robert Yuska, Kathryn Wojnar, DJ Wojnar, Mia Wojnar, and Rosie Wojnar, all of Hanover Township.

Barbara's family would like to acknowledge the Active Adult Center in Mountain Top. A special thank you to Bonnie and the staff and especially to Rosemary for all their caring. They would also like to thank the nursing and support staff at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing Center for all their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10 am in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek Township.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9:30-10 am in the Church, prior to the Mass. Parking is available in the church's parking lots off of S. Hancock Street.
