Marilyn Spaulding Obituary

Marilyn found solace and community at the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ. Her faith and the fellowship from her many friends there were central to her life.
She was a nature enthusiast who cherished the outdoors, whether it was camping in Michigan state parks, feeding and bird watching, or simply enjoying the greenery. Marilyn was also a skilled baker known for her delicious pies and enjoyed assembling puzzles. Her lifelong passion for and attending county fairs stemmed from her active involvement in 4-H in her youth.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Holly Spaulding of Hesperia, Michigan, and son Jonathan Spaulding of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank (Bud) Spaulding, daughter Debra Spaulding, and sister Anita Frase.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at noon, with visitation from 10 AM to 12 PM. Those wishing to honor Marilyn's memory may make contributions to the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ or True North. Her love, warmth, and the joy she brought to every life she touched will be deeply missed.

I am a cousin of Marilyn's through her husband, Bud Spaulding, as his grandmother was Amy Louise Haynor. I also served on the Newaygo School Board with Marilyn in the mid-1980s. She was wise and considerate and always kept the best interests of students in mind. I also had her son Jon in my printing/graphic arts class in about 1986 at the Newaygo County Career-Tech Center. My condolences to her family.
