Marilyn Sue Strickler, 79, of Odessa, passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs.

Marilyn was born on October 12, 1945, in Richmond, the daughter of Marvin and Josephine (Evans) Burnum. She was united in marriage to Langferd "Lannie" Strickler of Richmond on March 3, 1963; he survives of the home.

Survivors include: two sons, John (Tammy) Strickler of Odessa and David (Angie) Strickler of Pocatello, ID; four grandchildren: Taweny, Shaelee, Katie, and Cayden; five great-grandchildren; two nephews, Ryan (Debbie) Cox and Shawn (Melody) Cox; and sister, Marlene Cox of Richmond.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Lana Jo Strickler, and infant brother, Marvin Burnum, Jr.

Marilyn was raised and educated in the community where she was born. She was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. Marilyn had a love for classic cars and could often be found at car shows, drag races, and swap meets. She also enjoyed the thrill of treasure hunting at garage sales and thrift stores, always finding joy in the little things. A fan of old rock and roll music, she loved the memories and energy it brought. Of all the holidays, Thanksgiving held a special place in her heart, and she looked forward to it every year.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 21, 2025. The family asks you please call 816-565-0453 for the location of services. Please remember to share your memories of Marilyn by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
