Marilyn Louise Stroncek

 

It is with some sadness, but great joy, that her family releases Marilyn Stroncek to the eternal presence of God.

Marilyn was born on March 3, 1948 in Neenah, Wisconsin to her parents Gervase H. Kolbe and Eleanore Tomcik-Kolbe. She was well-educated having attended St. Mary High School in Menasha, WI, earning her Bachelor of Science at the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN, and completing her R.N. degree at the St. Mary School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. She then continued to further her training at the Mayo Clinic also in Rochester, MN.

She held the distinction of being the first female employee of the Postal Service in the state of Wisconsin. From there she began her nursing career which spanned nearly 5 decades, primarily in the areas of geriatric and hospice care. Her career spanned several states as well, including Minnesota, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Texas, and Arkansas.

Everyone that knew her will always remember the love she had for her family, her friends, every animal on the planet, traveling, all forms of sports, and her positive outlook to make the best out of any situation which would often result in an opportunity to learn a "life lesson."

She was an angel on earth and has now been called upon elsewhere. Every person that met her knows that their life was made better for having done so, and no one will ever forget that smile.

Her family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all that helped take care of her over the years, including Dr. Imran, Dr. Rollesfon, and Dr. Nagel. We give the same recognition to Dr. Finn and everyone that has been part of the staff at Maumelle Animal Clinic over the past 4+ decades for taking care of all of her four-legged babies.

We also want to give a special appreciation and heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice and to every single staff member at Briarwood Nursing and Rehab. Your hard work and personal care during the past year did not go unnnoticed and will not be forgotten.

Marilyn is preceded by her parents and her brother Chris, while survived by her sister Lorry and three children Tracy, Stephanie, and David.

In lieu of flowers, she would prefer donations to The Arkansas Food Bank, CARTI, and Maumelle Animal Services because those were three of the things that were important to her.

She authored the first sentence and again these are her words at the end:

Visitation will be at 4:30 PM, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Memorial service will begin at 5:30 PM.
