Marilyn Louise Tracy, a longtime Arkansas City resident, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on May 11, 1936, in Preston, Kansas, she was the daughter of Edwin and Louise Riggert. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Kansas, spending her final years in Overland Park to be near family.
Marilyn married Norman Tracy, on January 12, 1958, in Preston. They initially resided in Great Bend before moving to Anthony and then to Arkansas City, where Marilyn spent many years as a bookkeeper for locally owned businesses. Throughout her life, Marilyn was committed to her community and her faith. A lifelong member of the Lutheran church, she embodied the spirit of service and kindness. Her dedication extended beyond her family, as she devoted many years to volunteering with the Boy Scouts, where her outstanding contributions earned her the prestigious Silver Beaver award. After retirement, Marilyn was an active member of the Ark City Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was known for her sewing and baking, especially her homemade cinnamon rolls.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Norman, parents Edwin and Louise Riggert, and brothers Linn and Melvin Riggert. She is survived by her two sons, Kevin Tracy (Martha) of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Brent Tracy (Shana) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, grandchildren Daniel Tracy(Sharon), BethAnn Tracy, Bryce Tracy, Aubrey Tracy, and Tracy Kelley (Alex), great-grandchildren Brett Kelley, Ruth Kelley, and Quinn Tracy, and her brother, Roger Riggert. A memorial service for Marilyn will be held on November 14, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
